🗞️ News: 🦙 Meta’s New “Code LLaMA” codes as well as GPT-3.5.

Meta appears to be endlessly pursuing new sectors. Following the release of numerous AI models and a platform rivaling Twitter earlier this year, Meta is now eyeing ChatGPT and the realm of generative AI coding.
Below is a summary of the significant AI announcements from Meta this week:
Meta launches Code Llama — an AI code writing tool
Key points:
Similar to ChatGPT and Github Copilot, Code Llama can write and edit code based on text prompts.
It can complete code and debug existing code across a number of programming languages, including Python, C++, Java, and more.
Can run locally on the 7B model. In layman’s terms, it can run on your laptop without a cloud API & your data stays private.
It’s open source and anyone can use it. You can request access here.

Meta confirms AI ‘kill switch’ coming to Instagram and Facebook in Europe
The feature will give users in the EU the ability to switch off AI-powered personalizations, like AI-driven news feeds based on user data. Content could instead potentially be ranked by chronological order or local popularity.
The release comes in response to the EU’s new regulations which demand companies give users the option to switch off AI-driven personalizations.
While the feature is only available in the EU at the moment, governments around the world could enforce similar policies, which could bring the feature to new markets.

Meta releases a multilingual speech translation model
The model is called SeamlessM4T and it can translate almost 100 languages. It can do both speech-to-speech and text-to-speech translations.
According to Meta, the model represents a significant breakthrough because it performs entire translation tasks in one go, unlike other AI translation models on the market.

IBM’s AI Forecasting 🫢

Key points:
“AI won’t replace you. A person using AI will” - we already know this.
Now, IBM is saying the same thing in its 32-page report.
Companies are using AI to free up their employees’ time so they can focus on issues that require personalized attention.
IBM is predicting about 40% workforce (1.4B of the 3.4B global workforce) will need to polish their skills in 3 years.
Remember:
Embracing AI isn't about job loss, it's about enhancing human capabilities.
AI + Human creativity = unprecedented outcomes.
